Rabbi Israel Jacob Algazi was born in Izmir (Smyrna) around 1680. He served as an 18th-century Sephardic rabbi, Kabbalist, and Halakhic authority. His key works include Ar'a DeRabbanan, Shalmei Tzibur, Ne'ot Yaakov, Hug HaAretz, Kehillot Yaakov, Emet L'Yaakov, and Shemen HaMaor. He held the position of Rishon LeZion (Chief Rabbi of Jerusalem) from approximately 1754 to 1756 and passed away in 1756 in Jerusalem.
Rabbi Meir Melul originated from Morocco and is a contemporary Sephardic rabbi. His notable works are Mizmor LeDavid, Torat HaMizbeach, and Keter Shem Tov. He serves as the Chief Rabbi of Barcelona, Spain, overseeing communal, educational, and kosher affairs.
Rabbi Eliezer Horovitz was from Poland and was the son of R. Tzvi Hirsch Horovitz. He was a rabbinic leader in Neustadt (Nowe Miasto), Poland, and passed away in 1843 in Neustadt.
Rabbi Shlomo Aharon Wertheimer was born in Pezinok, Hungary (now Slovakia), in 1866, and was the son of R. Yaakov Wertheimer. His key works include Batei Midrashot, Ginzei Yerushalayim, Kohelet Shlomo, Zikhronot, and a partial publication of Midrash Haggadol. He was a rabbinic scholar and manuscript researcher, known for pioneering the publication of Cairo Genizah manuscripts. He passed away in 1935 in Jerusalem.
